LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

Superintendent Eldridge provided the board with a detailed overview of current legislation being discussed that may impact the East Butler Public School District. The list of bills that Mr. Eldridge shared can be found in the link below.

2025 Legislation Update

SUMMER PROJECTS & FACILITY PLAN

Superintendent Eldridge provided the board with an update on the summer projects. Projects moving forward for this summer are: 2nd & 3rd - grade classroom - Brainard renovation, Biology Classroom, Madison Street Drainage - Brainard. A majority of these are part of the district's five-year facility plan. You can reference that plan in the link below:

NEW HIRES

Madisyn Jakub - 5th Grade Brainard

Alexie Tejral - 3rd/3th Grade Dwight

Nathan Wall - 6th Grade Brainard

The school board moved to approve the hiring of Madisyn Jakub, Alexie Tejral, and Nathan Wall for the 2025-2026 school year.

Senior Trip

SENIOR CLASS TRIP

Each year, the graduating class takes a senior class trip. The trip is typically within the Omaha or Lincoln areas. This year the senior class is requesting to go to Top Golf in Omaha on April 30th.

The school board moved to approve the senior class trip to Top Golf in Omaha on April 30th.

MOTION PASSED: 6-0

2025 GRADUATING CLASS

At each April meeting, the administration recommends to the school board that the seniors be recommended for graduation pending completion of the graduation requirements.

POLICY REVISIONS

The school board reviewed the following policies at the March Board Meeting.

2009 - Public Participation at Board Meetings

2011 - Membership in Organizations
2012 - Board Code of Ethics

NO ACTION WAS TAKEN, AS NO REVISIONS WERE REQUIRED.

2012 CHEVY IMPALA SALE

The school board received five bids for selling the 2012 Chevy Impala. The school board considered the bids at their April Board meeting.

The school board moved to accept the bid from Eldrid Vrana in the amount of $2,665.

MOTION PASSED: 5-1 (Megan Kozisek - Yes, Ryan Pekarek - Yes, Sarah Strizek - Yes, Dylan Spatz - Yes, Brandon Jisa - Abstain, Laurie Smaus - Yes)

SCHOOL VEHICLE PURCHASE

Superintendent Eldridge presented to the board several quotes for the purchase of a new school vehicle, to replace the 2012 Chevy Impala. Mr. Eldridge recommended the board accept the bid from Sid Dillon for the 2025 Chevy Malibu.

The school board moved to approve the purchase of a 2025 Chevy Malibu for $24,377.

ICE MACHINE

Superintendent Eldridge shared several quotes for the purchase of a new ice machine for the school district. Several of our coaching staff have shared that the capacity of our current ice machines is not adequate for the needs of our athletes and coaching staff.

The School board moved to accept Lee's Refrigeration's bid of $10,698 for the 700-lb Cubelet ice machine.

HOUSE DEMOLITION BIDS

Superintendent Eldridge presented bids from four companies to demolish the houses at 203 S Madison & 211 S Madison Street in Brainard.

The school board moved to accept the bid from F & S Trenching for $29,000.

IPAD PURCHASE

Superintendent Eldridge presented a quote from Apple, Inc. to purchase 20 new iPads for $6,480.
