Reorganization of the Board
|
Every January the school board elects officers, selects bank depositories, newspaper of record, time and place for the regular meeting, and selects committee assignments. During election years, newly elected board members take the oath of office and are officially sworn in as members of the East Butler Public School Board of Education. |

TRANSPORTATION FLEET UPDATE
Tyler Fortik of CTF Service was available at the school board meeting to provide the school board with a comprehensive review of the school district's fleet of vehicles. Currently, the school owns a fleet of:
12 School Buses (6 route buses) (3 Spare buses) (1 Micro Bird) (2 buses, ready to sell)
4 Special Education Vehicles (Used for transporting SPED students)
2 Maintenance/Custodial/Kitchen (Used to transport food to Dwight & maintenance and custodial needs)
2 White Activity Vans
2 Black SUV Activity Vehicles
1 White SUV Activity Vehicle
2 Car/Cross Over (Used between the Brainard & Dwight buildings)

DISTRICT ASSESSMENT DATA
Mr. Biltoft and Mr. Cidlik shared with the school board the recent assessment data that was released for the East Butler Public School District.
East Butler scored well above the state average in the areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science.
These scores are a direct reflection of the quality staff that is employed with East Butler Public Schools.

SUMMER PROJECTS & FACILITY PLAN
Superintendent Eldridge provided the board with a summer projects update. Projects moving forward for this summer are: K & 1st - grade classroom - Brainard renovation. A majority of these are part of the district's five-year facility plan. You can reference that plan in the link below:

NEBRASKA EDUCATIONAL BUILDING ASSOCIATION (NEBA)
Representatives from D. A. Davidson (Andy Forney), and Bond Attorney, Michael Rogers were present at the school board meeting to discuss financing opportunities for the construction of a gym, fitness center, and band room.
The board discussed three financing opportunities with the represenatives that were present:
- Bond Election
- Lease to Purchase
- NEBA Bonding
After the discussion, the school board felt that the best way to proceed with financing a project like this, is to move down the path of the NEBA Bonding structure.
The school board moved to approve the resolution authorizing a site lease and lease with the Nebraska Educational Building Association.

POLICY REVISIONS
The school board reviewed the following policies at the January Board Meeting.
4017 - Relations with Collective Bargaining Associations
4018 - Corporal Punishment 4019 - Workplace Injury Prevention and Safety Committee 4020 - Ownership of Copyrighted Words 4022 - Certification 4023 - Professional Ethics 4024 - Teachers’ Rights, Responsibilities & Duties 4025 - Superintendent 4027 - Part-Time Certificated Employees
No action was taken, as now revisions were needed.

NEGOTIATED AGREEMENT 2026-2027
The negotiation committee shared with the school board members that they have reached an agreement with the East Butler Education Association. The details of that agreement are as follows:
- Adjusting the Health Insurance Deductible to $1200/$3800 (Dual Choice, Alternate Network)
- Base Salary - $41,480 (Increase of $1,009)
- Moving the Contract due date from April 1st to March 15th.
- Sick Leave Accumulation - Allowing teaching staff members to accumulate up to 50 days of sick leave. (Currently they are allowed to accumulate up to 45 days).
The school board moved to accept the negotiated agreement for the 2026-2027 school year.
