DISCUSSION/INFORMATIONAL ITEMS
EAST BUTLER FOUNDATION UPDATE
Joni Ringdahl, President of the East Butler Foundation board, was present at the meeting to share an update about the work that the Foundation board has done over the past year.
$42,492 in scholarships were awarded to the 2024 seniors.
The Foundation board is looking for new ways to raise funds to support scholarships.
Foundation Golf scramble is scheduled for August 10th at David City.
SUMMER PROJECTS UPDATE & SCHEDULE
Superintendent Eldridge provided a list of summer projects that are currently scheduled. Custodial and maintenance staff will begin the process of cleaning and preparing the buildings for the 2024-2025 school year as soon as the current year ends.
In addition, the east main entrance of the Brainard building will not be accessible while the roof project is ongoing. Those needing into the building will need to call the main office at 402-545-2081.
LEGISLATIVE INFORMATION
Superintendent Eldridge provided updated information for the school board on specific pieces of legislation after the conclusion of the session:
LB 388 - Finance Package Bill
Did not receive a vote as there were not enough senators in favor of the proposed package.
There is a possibility that the Governor will call for a special session to address this bill. However, he will not call the special session unless he is confident something will pass.
LB 71 - Parent Transparency Bill
The East Butler Early Childhood team was present at the meeting to discuss the portion of this legislation that directly impacts the age allowance for preschool.
The board shared their thoughts on this topic and listened to the team.
The school's attorney will be drafting a policy outlining what the team and the school board feel is in the best interest of the school district.

Megan Pelan - East Butler Foundation Administrative Assistant
Mike Muck - Route Bus Driver for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year &. Part-time summer maintenance.

STAGE LIGHTING SYSTEM
Superintendent Eldridge presented to the board a bid for a new stage lighting system in Brainard. The current system (light Fixtures) are from the 1960s and repair parts are no longer able to be found. The following bids were received:
Heartland Scenic Studio - $27,942
Midwest Sound & Lighting - No return call received.
VOSS Lighting - Unable to do stage lighting.
The school Board Moved to accept the bid from Heartland Scenic Studio for $27,942.

APPLE iPAD PURCHASE
Superintendent Eldridge presented a quote for the purchase of 25 new Apple iPads to be utilized in grades K-2. The current iPads are older and are no longer able to be updated.
25 Apple iPad - $6,975
The school board moved to approve the purchase of 25 Apple iPads at a cost of $6,975.
